Null + Void to release debut album ‘Cryosleep’

After working with a long list of major acts like The Kills and Moby and writing songs together with Dave Gahan for the latest two Depeche Mode albums the Swiss-born New Yorker emerges as a solo artist under the name Null + Void, with his debut longplayer Cryosleep.

Throughout the record, Uenala matches his dynamic production with incredible vocalists — from Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan and the inimitable Shannon Funchess of Light Asylum, to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Big Pink.

Following on from ‘Asphalt Kiss’, ‘Paragon’ will be the second instrumental single released on August 11th, while ‘Where I Wait’ feat. Dave Gahan will follow in October including a mesmerizing music video directed by Timothy Saccenti (a long time video collaborator of Depeche Mode).

Aris Kindt launch the new Kingdoms imprint with their second album

The new label Kingdoms is an eclectic platform for adventurous music ranging from new voices in club-inflected jazz, contemporary composition, ambient, and electronic music to reissues of little-known obscurities from across the musical spectrum.

Helmed by veteran producer and musical polyglot Francis Harris, Kingdoms builds upon his decades spent pushing against the boundaries of electronic music as a producer and performer. On October 20, 2017, ambient shoegaze duo Aris Kindt launch the new Kingdoms imprint with their second album, Swann and Odette.

Picking up where their first record (2015’s Floods) leaves off, Swann and Odette is an evolutionary leap forward for the duo. The sonic palette is deeper, the grooves more sparse and the melodies are given more room to seep deep within a mix so expansive it feels almost tactile.

TheGround present first single ‘Homeless Hearts’ of the upcoming album

Hot on the heels of their much anticipated album Dediction – Florian Kruse & Hendrik Burkhard aka TheGround give one of the key tracks a much deserved single release.

The guys have been working together for a couple of years now, their symbiotic production skills blending with Burkhard’s amazing vocal delivery – never more so apparent than on ‘Homeless Hearts’.

The slick, nuanced and spacy production gives way to a powerful groove, providing the perfect backing for Burkhard’s dreamy vocal and gives first hints of what the upcoming album might sound like.

Long player coming this fall from Danish artist Wangel

Wangels debut album dealt with previous emotions revolving mania and depression. This October, the Danish artist is ready to release the second long-player. It is an album about becoming a father and the ability to say things straight from the heart. The title track ‘Reason’ is first of all a welcome and a tribute to the new life, which is on it’s way. An honest song about facing difficulties in life, but at the same time about trusting unconditional love to be the most important thing of all. Watch the video here.

“The previous releases were about the “lonely” feelings; the feelings that only existed in me, the feelings I wanted to set free for a long time. The new album is about my life as it is right now; about all the thoughts, expectations, worries and the happiness that comes with a new life as a family. This is a very personal album, but I also hope to express something very ordinary and something that most people can relate to.”

Also musically the album is a big step forward for Wangel, the melodies are still subtle, but offer more nuances and colors. “We have moved to new places on this album. The song Faith is, for example, some thing very new to the Wangel universe. It has this dusty vinyl sound and goes in a 6/8 beat. The song Emotion Pill has a HipHop feel to it and is inspired by the sounds of Rihanna and Jay Z. When Peter brought the idea to the table, I was overjoyed. I have always wanted to do a Wangel song with this type of beat.” says Kasper Ejlerskov Leonhardt.

freihfn showcase at Reeperbahn Festival 2017

Two Hamburg institutions in the music landscape join forces and build the “freihfn”. Independent publisher freibank and indietronic imprint hfn-music have collaborated on countless projects since the early 90’s, most recently in respect of Trentemøller. Jointly putting on an eclectic showcase at Reeperbahn Festival 2017 is a overdue pleasure.

The diverse program ranges from the mind-blowing Iranian-German newcomers Pari San via compelling Danish singer-songwriter Jacob Bellens and hotly tipped Canadian electronic singer-songwriter Geoffroy to mesmerizing and Danish electro-pop eccentric Lydmor, who close out the night and usher in the dancefloor.
